Car Battery Types: AGM, EFB, Flooded and Lithium

Battery technology is a vehicle requirement, not a style choice. Confirm the original part and charging system before selecting a replacement.

Browse exact battery part numbers and group dimensions.

Conventional flooded lead-acid

Conventional flooded automotive batteries. A group-size match does not establish suitability for a start-stop system.

Replacement boundary: Use only where approved for the exact vehicle; no default downgrade from AGM/EFB.

Enhanced Flooded Battery

Enhanced flooded technology used in specified cycling/start-stop applications.

Replacement boundary: Retain the OEM technology requirement; AGM substitution requires application and charging-system approval.

Absorbent Glass Mat

Lead-acid technology using an absorbent glass mat separator; not a lithium battery.

Replacement boundary: An AGM-required vehicle must not receive an unapproved flooded substitute. Check charger mode and OEM instructions.

OEM lead-acid, subtype not established

The source identifies lead-acid but does not establish flooded, EFB or AGM subtype.

Replacement boundary: Do not infer AGM or FLA from capacity, appearance or generic model name.

OEM-specific low-voltage lithium-ion

An OEM-specific low-voltage system; not automatically interchangeable with a conventional 12V lead-acid battery.

Replacement boundary: Professional/OEM verification. Nominal voltage, electronics and installation procedure are vehicle-specific.

High-voltage traction battery

Traction packs are outside the consumer starter/auxiliary-battery fitment dataset.

Replacement boundary: No DIY replacement instructions or generic Amazon fitment recommendations.

Before ordering a battery

Check the actual battery position, chemistry, voltage, terminals, tray, hold-down, vent, CCA requirement and any BMS registration procedure. Group size alone does not approve a replacement SKU. High-voltage traction batteries are outside this guide.
