P-Metric vs LT Tires: Why the Prefix Matters

P-metric and LT designations are different tire classes, even when the visible width, aspect ratio and rim number match.

Check load and pressure together

An LT tire’s load range and pressure requirements cannot be copied from a P-metric tire. Use the vehicle placard and manufacturer guidance, especially for pickups and towing.

Do not normalize away the prefix

Search can recognize similar geometry, but a P tire and an LT tire remain separate products and may need different wheels or calibration.
