Use the vehicle requirement
Read the placard and owner’s manual, including whether the tire is P-metric, Euro-metric or LT. Compare the replacement’s load index and load class against the vehicle requirement.

Why a chart is not enough
A load index is a rated capacity under specified test conditions. Vehicle load, pressure and tire class affect the actual selection. Ask the tire manufacturer or qualified dealer when changing categories.
